Are these cases real?
Yes, the cases have come to us from law enforcement, schools, or parents.

I have registered to be a volunteer, now what?
You attend the Teen Court session when your schedule allows Check the dates on the website calendar. The first time you attend, you will observe (and get community service hours) and the second time you can jump in on a jury.

What should I wear?
Take a look at the dress code on the website (Hint: No jeans or shorts).

Venice Teen Court - 4004 S. Tamiami Trail Venice, FL 2nd Floor

Sarasota Teen Court - 2071 Ringling Blvd Sarasota, FL 6th floor

North Port Teen Court - 4970 City Hall Blvd. North Port, FL 2nd floor

Do parents need to attend with a volunteer?
No, but they are welcome to.

How long should I expect to be volunteering for a court session?
We ask you to arrive by 5:30 pm and you should expect to be with us until 7 pm or a bit longer based on how many cases we have that evening.

Do I have to come to every court session if I volunteer?
No. You can come whenever your schedule allows. We value your time, but consistency is always appreciated.

How do I log my hours?
Teen Court will provide you with a community service log, or you can use your school’s form. An employee or an approved adult volunteer will sign off on your hours at the end of every session.

How old or what grade do I have to be in to be an attorney?
9th-12th. You will have to shadow (starting at 4:30pm) for a few sessions.
